Paige's adventure: Chapter one

Here is my first story, not to mention that this once was a moose blog, but I have made this blog now that it is cute and fun (except for my old posts, but those will go away). I will post the second chapter in a sec.

It was a dark spooky night. This day was Halloween, but everyone was tired and went home from trick-or-treating. But, as 57-year-old Rosie Clemets took out her last batch of cookies for the night, she felt a draft of cold air. All of her windows were closed in the kitchen, but maybe one could be open in the front room. She went silently to the large window. It was closed, but something outside made her almost faint. There was a dark figure walking toward her house. It held a cardboard box. It put the box on the porch and then floated away, into the darkness. Rosie was afraid to see what was in the box, but she finally got the courage to go and check. Why would the thing put a cardboard box on her front porch? It didn't do anything to her. So she might as well check. What if the thing had chosen her? To do something. Like, check what was in the box. She slowly opened the door, being cautious not to get attaked if something jumped out. She suddenly heard crying... and it was from the box! There was something in there, and it sounded definitly like a baby! She carefully unfolded the pale sheets. Then she saw a little sleepy baby face. Wait, there was a note! She cleaned up everything and then went inside. The little baby was only wearing a diaper and was wrapped around with a thin blanket, which made the baby cold. She remembered the note and ripped it open. It was pretty stationary with blue and yellow and pink and green and purple flowers on the boarder. It was in messy cursive print, but luckily, she once was a fourth grade teacher, and she was a whiz at figuring out "cursive codes" as she called it. She started reading it. It said:

You have been chosen to take care of and teach this young sorcorrer. She must have her own dragon, spellbooks, and of course a wand. You must teach her before destruction strikes, or else no one will be saved. Thank you. --X

Rosie couldn't think straight. This little baby that she was holding was a magical wizard. She knew nothing about wizards at all. She also felt too old to take care of a tiny helpless baby. She decided to call the local orphanage and got in her car. She remembered she had no carseat, so she just put her carefully back into the box and buckled her up tight. Rosie grabbed a warmer blanket for the baby. She was about to set the note with her, but decided that the girl should find out for herself and maybe get help from Rosie. She drove to the building where the orphanage was. She sighed and then carried the baby to the door. When she noticed it was unlocked, she swung it open and peered inside. There was a colorful room full of frames with paintings, drawings, and other kinds of art. A young lady with tall blue high-heels walked to Rosie. "Why are you here so late at night?" the lady asked. Rosie checked her watch. It was late, 11:47. "I am so sorry to bother you, but I found this little girl on my porch." She kept quiet about the magical part of the story to keep the baby's identity sealed. "Ohh. It is so sad when people just abanden poor little babies, don't you think?" the lady asked. "My name is Chelsea Hook. I'll take her. What is your name?" Chelsea opened a drawer and took out a pen and paper. "Rosie Clemets. 2918 Anthem Avenue." Rosie said. Chelsea jotted those down. "Thanks. We'll take good care of her." Chelsea waved good-bye. Rosie waved back. She went back to her car alone. She drove home and went to bed. She had had a long day. The next day, a young couple came to the orphanage. They ended up adopting the baby girl, naming her Paige. Rosie didn't know that Paige was even adopted, but she knew that someday she would come for Rosie's help. Eleven happy years had passed without Paige even knowing she was adopted. But one day, she had asked her mom where her ansesters were from, for a school report. Her mother finally decided to tell her about her being adopted, for, her mother didn't know who Paige's ansesters were. Paige was a little emotional, but she asked her mom where the orphanage was and rode her bike there, because it wasn't too far. When she got there, there was lady in pink high-heels who greeted her. "Um.. I need to know who brought me here. If there is someone." Paige said. "What's your name, sweetie? I'm Chelsea Hook." Chelsea asked. "Paige Morne. I was adopted when I was a baby." "Hmm.... here we are! Here you go! Have a wonderful day!" singed Chelsea. Paige walked out of the building. She looked at the card. It said: Rosie Clemets. 2918 Anthem Avenue. Paige turned around. She was on Freedom Street, which was about two or three blocks away from Anthem Avenue. She rode her bike to the address. When she got there, she climbed off her bike and started walking to the door. She was about to run away from the house, but she kept walking to the door. She knocked once.... twice..... three times untill she gave up hope. But when she started walking away, an old lady opened the door. "May I help you?" Paige turned around and walked back. "I'm looking for a Rosie Clemets?" Paige stuttered. "This is her." Rosie said with a twinkle in her eye. "Um, did you take me to the orphanage on Freedom Street? My name is Paige Morne." Rosie motioned for her to come inside. She decided it would be safe to go inside. "Would you like a cookie?" Rosie held a plate covered with cookies of all shapes and kinds. "Thanks." Paige said shyly. She took a medium-sized peanut butter cookie. "So, do you know who brought me here?" Paige asked. Rosie paused for a moment. "To tell you the truth, I don't know. Why don't I tell you the whole story." Paige nodded her head. "Yes please. Do you have any milk for these cookies?" Rosie got some milk and then started telling the story. "It was a dark night. This night was Halloween, but everyone went home. I was making my last batch of cookies for the day, and I felt a cold draft hit my neck. I was checking the windows, and while in this room, the front room, I saw something. No windows were open, but a dark figure sneaked toward my house. It had a cardboard box, with you in it. Then it went away. I decided to take you to the orphanage where you were adopted, I suppose. Oh, I remember, there was a note," Rosie sipped some milk. "you may want to see." Paige thought for a moment. "Can I see it?" She asked. "Of course!" Rosie walked into another room. Paige wondered what the note said. Suddenly, Rosie came back, holding a pile of crunched papers. "Here you go. If you want, you can keep it." said Rosie. Paige opened the note. It said in messy handwriting:

You have been chosen to take care of and teach this young sorcorrer. She must have her own dragon, spellbooks, and of course a wand. You must teach her before destruction strikes, or else no one will be saved. Thank you. --X

Paige's eyes were starting to puff up because she was holding in her tears. Today had been so emotional and now excitment and terror raced thourh her mind. It was pretty cool to be a wizard, have your own dragon, wand, spellbooks, but, she was afraid. Afraid to tell everyone. Afraid to save the world. Afraid to find out about her parents. She had a bad headache. She checked her watch, 6:39. She was late. "I have to go. I'll come back soon." Paige walked to the door, eating one more cookie. "Thanks for coming. See you soon." Rosie called. Paige raced home. She decided to not tell her parents about herself. She wouldn't tell anyone. It was her and Rosie's little secret. "Why are you so late for dinner!!" Paige's mother said to Paige when she got home. She tried to convince her mom she went to a friend's house, which wasn't a total lie. Rosie was her friend now. Even though she was hungury, Paige stumbled up the stairs without getting a bite to eat. Paige changed into some clean (mismatched) pj's and fell asleep. She hoped she could sleep in just this once. She dreamed about her parents and how kind and happy they were. But why would they give her up? That thought stayed in her mind untill she woke up. Paige woke up delicously from a nice sleep. She could hear the blender, which ment they were having smoothies. She could also smell blueberry pancakes. She wanted to make sure she slept in, so she checked her clock. 9:21. She had slept in, which felt good. Maybe today she would just stay in her pj's and watch cartoons and then paint some pictures, and then do some chores to get some money. But her mind kept wandering off about all the magical stuff. It was too hard to think about right now. She went downstairs and had some breakfast and then did all the things on her list. She was having a good day, untill somebody knocked on the door. When she opened the door, she knew she was a wizard. There was a dwarf on her front porch! She went outside, and told the dwarf to go away. But in it's squeaky voice it said: "We need your help. Someone is trying to take over our kingdom. Please help!!" Paige was trying to enjoy her weekend, but now she had to save a kingdom of dwarfs. "I can't today. Maybe another day." "No no! We need help now!!" THe dwarf pleaded. "Fine. I'll be back in a sec." Paige felt she needed to leave her mom a note. To tell she was gone. It said: Hi mom, I had to run to a friend's house to pick up something. I'll be home soon. --Paige She hoped she wouldn't be too long. She then hurried to the dwarf in the front. They hurried to the kingdom, dwarf in the front Paige in the rear. She hoped with all of her might that it would be quick and easy. Then dwarf said: "We're almost there!"

That's all for now! Stay tuned!
