New ideas
Here are some new, fresh ideas for the end of summer. Hope you enjoy them!
Fashion Charades
What you'll need: A pile of dress-ups or clothes, paper and pens, and a bunch of friends.
How to play: Get out the dress-ups. Pick out somebody to be the "model". Next, everyone, except the model, writes down a noun. Then, the model picks a paper secretly and then uses three items from the pile of clothes that they think the other friends would not guess who they are. Whoever guesses the noun first goes next, doing the same thing. This is a great game for sleepovers or parties.
Summer Bookmark
What you'll need: Scissors, colorful felt, a hole punch, ribbon, (optional) flower applique, (optional) Glue Dots.
How to make it: Use scissors to cut out a flip-flop shape out of felt. Use a hole punch to make three holes in the flip-flop--one at the top and two in the middle (one on each side). Starting at the top, string a ribbon through the holes and tie a knot. Add a flower applique with a Glue Dot (optional).
Splash--You're it!
What you'll need: A wet sponge, a sprinkler, and lots of friends.
How to play: Play a soggy game of tag with a sprinkler and a sponge. One player is It. He or she tries to tag another player with a wet sponge. Whoever gets tagged becomes the new It. If a player is standing underneath the sprinkler, he or she can't be tagged. The sprinkler acts as the "safe" area.
So that's all my creative ideas for today. See ya!

Paige's adventure: Chapter two
Here is chapter two. Enjoy! (If you have not read the first part, you should read it first.)
The dwarf circled around a corner and then another. "Are we there yet?" Paige asked. "Almost." the dwarf kept walking in zig-zags, which made Paige confused. "Welcome to our kingdom!" the dwarf said a few minutes later. In front of Paige was a miniature wall, with a gate. "Can I step over it?" Paige asked. "Um... ok." the dwarf said. Ahead, there was a shrinked farm, the roof up to her knee. Behind that was a pond (puddle), and even further was a little town, full of houses. And at the end of the kingdom there was a castle, up to Paige's hip. It was crowded with dwarfs of all shapes and sizes. She could've called them garden gnomes, but that would be rude. What could possibly be wrong? Then Paige saw the problem. There was a little spot on the left side of the kingdom that no dwarf was nearby. It was fogging up with darkness, and if it took over the kingdom, Paige guessed, that all the little dwarfs would become evil. Was this the time she had to save the world? No, she thought. It would be harder. But what should she do? She hadn't learned any spell or tricks. So she tried to concentrate. Then an idea popped into her head. She would create a potion to pour over the kingdom to make a force field. She would take a flashlight and shine it on the darkness and hopefully it will shrivel away. She knew it was kind of a weird plan, but, she was a wizard. Hopefully her powers would work. "Human, we need to make a plan." the dwarf squeaked. "Just to let you know, my name is Paige. What's your name?" Paige said. "My name is a name you cannot pronounce. Call me Perry." said Perry. "Ok, Perry. So I have a plan. We make a potion, pour it over the kingdom to make a force field, then take a flash-" Paige thought that maybe Perry wouldn't know what a "flashlight" was so she said something else. "...do you know what a flashlight is?" Paige wondered. "Oh yes we use them all the time we borrow other humans." Perry explained. Good. They might have a spare. "We could shine the flashlight on the darkness and it will go away." Paige ended. Perry frowned."Oh no that will not be necessary. Darkness doesn't go away very easily, as you know. I know a spell that might work." Perry said. "What is it? I don't know much about magic." Perry put his hands on his hip. "What are you talking about?! You are one of the greatest wizards alive and you know nothing about magic?!" Perry yelled loudly. Paige's cheeks turned raspberry red. "I'm only eleven!!" explained Paige. Perry ignored her and started talking again. "What you have to do is move you arms like this," Perry moved his arms like he was conducting music. "And then say: 'waka waka boom boom waka'. And then it hopefully goes away, because you may only do it once a day, just I would suggest only using it only when a situation demands it." That seemed easy for Paige. "Like this: waka waka boom boom waka!?" Paige tried the arms then she was ready to try it. They walked through the village, but Paige was struggling to not step on any of the dwarfs' masterpieces, or dwarfs, for that matter. Finally they got to the little corner that was darkening. Paige closed her eyes and started to speak. "Waka waka boom boom waka!" she said, adding the arm movements. The darkness froze. Then it started floating up, and then it burst to pieces. Paige was amazed to think that such a silly spell could destroy such an evil thing. "All done?" she asked, checking her watch. 4:31. She only had half an hour to get home. "I need to take you to the castle." Perry started walking towards the dollhouse-sized castle. "Why?" Paige asked, following Perry. "To tell the King and Queen the darkness is gone, of course!" Perry said, a little too loud. "The darkness is gone?" "We are saved!" Suddenly all the other dwarfs started making a racket. They were jumping off their houses, climbing on one another, and making it even harder for Paige not to squash them. She was surprised that the dwarfs were so hyper. She was also surprised that they didn't see her destroy the darkness. Then, she felt little feet walking up her leg. She brushed the dwarfs away, but they kept coming. Paige had to hopscotch through the village, little dwarfs clinging to her leg and shirt. It was very uncomfortable. Finally she got to the castle. She flicked the dwarfs off one by one and then she raced to the moat of the castle. She spotted Perry and ran to him. "There you are!" he said. "Phew!" Paige exclaimed. Paige realized that she had shrunk. There must have been a magic spell that changed you to the perfect size. She was as tall as Perry now. Then she and Perry started exploring in the castle. Perry knocked on a large door. He then opened it wide. "Your Highneses," Perry started. He nodded at Paige. "Here is Paige. She is a wizard, and she saved our kingdom from the darkness." The King and Queen stood up. "Well well. Looks like we have a body guard." the Queen stated. "Yes we do. She sure does look like a wizard." the King added. "Um, I have to go. I'll come back another day, ok?" Paige said. "Oh no you shall be rewarded." the Queen said. "I really don't care about getting something." Paige tried to start walking away, but the King and Queen demanded her to stay. "Here," the King handed her a small box, engraved in it were a few jewels, rubies, emeralds, diamonds, and many more different kinds of gems. "Only open it when you truly need it." the Queen said. "Thanks." Paige turned and ran home. Before leaving the dwarf town she yelled, "Bye Perry!!" she heard a small response. "Good bye, Paige!!" Paige waved and she rushed home, with only moments to spare. She shoved the box into her pocket. She slid to her seat. Paige ate a great dinner, mac 'n cheese, and took a shower. She then went to bed. She dreamed about dragons and wizards and magic boxes. Wait, she had a magic box! Should she open it? She then remembered the Queen's words. "Only open it when you truly need it." That did make sense. Then Paige realized that this was a silly train of thought. So she thought about her real parents. Were they still alive? What if they were evil? And why did they give her up? She called Rosie and set up a date during the week to have her lessons. "What about Wednesday?" Rosie had asked. Paige agreed. They set it all up, and then they just had to wait for Wednesday to come. While waiting for Wednesday, the days seemed a blur to Paige. She remembered that a few talking birds came to her house just to say hello. She also remembered a bright yellow spider come to her house, asking for her to watch her dinner while she got a fork and napkin. It was strange, since they asked such funny questions. Finally Wednesday came, and Paige was ready to leap out of the door and run to Rosie's house. She proudly knocked on the door, smiling. This was the first time in a while that she felt so good. "Hi, Paige." Rosie announced when she swung the creaky door open. "Hi Rosie." Paige walked in. "Want some cookies?" Rosie asked, holding a large platter of delicious cookies. Once again, Paige was tempted to take a handful. But she took only one chocolate chip cookie. "So, any run-ins with any magical creatures?" Rosie wondered. "Three, actually." Paige explained about the dwarf kingdom, the birds, and the spider. "They are funny, huh?" Rosie chomped on a snickerdoodle cookie. "I have something for you." Rosie walked into another room and brought back a large package. "I got this in the mail," she started. "But it doesn't say who it's from." That wasn't surprising for Paige. "Is it for me?" Paige asked, grabbing the box. "I think so." Rosie walked out of the room again and came back with a pair of scissors. Paige ripped it open and started pulling things out. "Magic potion kit, spellbooks, papers, and.... a wand!" Paige was the most excited about the wand then anything else. It was a sleek dark brown shiny wand. It felt like it was melting in Paige's hand. Rosie seemed the most excited about the papers, probably order forms and other stuff Paige didn't need to worry about. Then Rosie's mouth dropped open. "Paige," she started to smile. "Look at this." she was pointing at a paper with nothing on it, except for a few sentences at the bottom of the page: Paige Morne, welcome to Hidden Hollows Academy for young wizards. Sin up today and come anytime. Signed: Dr. W. Oldburg. "Are you still going to teach me?" Paige asked Rosie. "I don't know. Maybe." Rosie looked around for any other papers that were interesting. "Paige, what kind of dragon do you want?" Rosie was looking at a catalogue full of different kinds of dragons. Paige saw a sparkly white frost dragon. Too cold for her. She also saw a lava dragon. It had dark red scales and looked like a lava clump, which it was, almost. Paige then saw a beautiful emerald dragon with yellow eyes. It reminded Paige of seaweed. It also reminded her about her magic box, the same colored jewel from the lid. She looked some more, but none were as pretty as the one she loved. There were golden ones, silver ones, shiny ones, and more. But on the last page, she saw one even prettier than the seaweed dragon. It had sky blue scales, beautiful silver claws, and the shiniest tail ever. She did eny-meny-miny-mo and ended up with the blue dragon. "Rosie, I want this one." Paige pointed to the dragon. "Oooo, Paige you have good taste." Rosie ordered the dragon (for free) and they had to wait a week or so for it to come. They either send it to you, or you pick it up. It starts as an egg, and then the wizard has to take care of it. And that would be their dragon for the rest of their life. "Why don't we call your parents and tell them everything, since you're going to that school." Paige agreed and they called her house and told them everything. Finally they believed Paige and Rosie and decided if it was going to be the best for Paige then she could go. "Thank you so much!" were the words that came out of Paige's mouth. "Just be home by dinner." her mother said. Paige was so excited to go shopping with Rosie for the rest of the things she needed: a uniform, a cloak, a notebook and pen, and they had to pick up the dragon. Paige bought a uniform and cloak at the clothing store, and then they went to the pet shop to get the dragon. There were toads, cats, dogs, owls, birds, bugs, and other animals Paige could not name. Rosie started to talk. "Excuse me, we are here to pick up our dragon, the blue sapphire one." Then a name popped into Paige's head. Sapphire. The man at the front went behind a curtain and then brought back a small cage marked: Blue Sapphire. "Thank you!" Paige said. They walked out of the store and looked around a little. There was a joke shop and a cafe, and other interesting shops. Soon it started to get dark and they left. Rosie dropped Paige off at Paige's house. "Thanks for everything!!" Paige shouted. "You're very welcome!" Then Rosie drove away. Paige walked inside. She had a wonderful dinner, ribs and potatoes. There was no conversation at the table, which surprised Paige. She then changed into her pajama's and then went to bed. She had had a very long day.
That's all for now. Stay tuned for chapter three!

Paige's adventure: Chapter one
Here is my first story, not to mention that this once was a moose blog, but I have made this blog now that it is cute and fun (except for my old posts, but those will go away). I will post the second chapter in a sec.
It was a dark spooky night. This day was Halloween, but everyone was tired and went home from trick-or-treating. But, as 57-year-old Rosie Clemets took out her last batch of cookies for the night, she felt a draft of cold air. All of her windows were closed in the kitchen, but maybe one could be open in the front room. She went silently to the large window. It was closed, but something outside made her almost faint. There was a dark figure walking toward her house. It held a cardboard box. It put the box on the porch and then floated away, into the darkness. Rosie was afraid to see what was in the box, but she finally got the courage to go and check. Why would the thing put a cardboard box on her front porch? It didn't do anything to her. So she might as well check. What if the thing had chosen her? To do something. Like, check what was in the box. She slowly opened the door, being cautious not to get attaked if something jumped out. She suddenly heard crying... and it was from the box! There was something in there, and it sounded definitly like a baby! She carefully unfolded the pale sheets. Then she saw a little sleepy baby face. Wait, there was a note! She cleaned up everything and then went inside. The little baby was only wearing a diaper and was wrapped around with a thin blanket, which made the baby cold. She remembered the note and ripped it open. It was pretty stationary with blue and yellow and pink and green and purple flowers on the boarder. It was in messy cursive print, but luckily, she once was a fourth grade teacher, and she was a whiz at figuring out "cursive codes" as she called it. She started reading it. It said:
You have been chosen to take care of and teach this young sorcorrer. She must have her own dragon, spellbooks, and of course a wand. You must teach her before destruction strikes, or else no one will be saved. Thank you. --X
Rosie couldn't think straight. This little baby that she was holding was a magical wizard. She knew nothing about wizards at all. She also felt too old to take care of a tiny helpless baby. She decided to call the local orphanage and got in her car. She remembered she had no carseat, so she just put her carefully back into the box and buckled her up tight. Rosie grabbed a warmer blanket for the baby. She was about to set the note with her, but decided that the girl should find out for herself and maybe get help from Rosie. She drove to the building where the orphanage was. She sighed and then carried the baby to the door. When she noticed it was unlocked, she swung it open and peered inside. There was a colorful room full of frames with paintings, drawings, and other kinds of art. A young lady with tall blue high-heels walked to Rosie. "Why are you here so late at night?" the lady asked. Rosie checked her watch. It was late, 11:47. "I am so sorry to bother you, but I found this little girl on my porch." She kept quiet about the magical part of the story to keep the baby's identity sealed. "Ohh. It is so sad when people just abanden poor little babies, don't you think?" the lady asked. "My name is Chelsea Hook. I'll take her. What is your name?" Chelsea opened a drawer and took out a pen and paper. "Rosie Clemets. 2918 Anthem Avenue." Rosie said. Chelsea jotted those down. "Thanks. We'll take good care of her." Chelsea waved good-bye. Rosie waved back. She went back to her car alone. She drove home and went to bed. She had had a long day. The next day, a young couple came to the orphanage. They ended up adopting the baby girl, naming her Paige. Rosie didn't know that Paige was even adopted, but she knew that someday she would come for Rosie's help. Eleven happy years had passed without Paige even knowing she was adopted. But one day, she had asked her mom where her ansesters were from, for a school report. Her mother finally decided to tell her about her being adopted, for, her mother didn't know who Paige's ansesters were. Paige was a little emotional, but she asked her mom where the orphanage was and rode her bike there, because it wasn't too far. When she got there, there was lady in pink high-heels who greeted her. "Um.. I need to know who brought me here. If there is someone." Paige said. "What's your name, sweetie? I'm Chelsea Hook." Chelsea asked. "Paige Morne. I was adopted when I was a baby." "Hmm.... here we are! Here you go! Have a wonderful day!" singed Chelsea. Paige walked out of the building. She looked at the card. It said: Rosie Clemets. 2918 Anthem Avenue. Paige turned around. She was on Freedom Street, which was about two or three blocks away from Anthem Avenue. She rode her bike to the address. When she got there, she climbed off her bike and started walking to the door. She was about to run away from the house, but she kept walking to the door. She knocked once.... twice..... three times untill she gave up hope. But when she started walking away, an old lady opened the door. "May I help you?" Paige turned around and walked back. "I'm looking for a Rosie Clemets?" Paige stuttered. "This is her." Rosie said with a twinkle in her eye. "Um, did you take me to the orphanage on Freedom Street? My name is Paige Morne." Rosie motioned for her to come inside. She decided it would be safe to go inside. "Would you like a cookie?" Rosie held a plate covered with cookies of all shapes and kinds. "Thanks." Paige said shyly. She took a medium-sized peanut butter cookie. "So, do you know who brought me here?" Paige asked. Rosie paused for a moment. "To tell you the truth, I don't know. Why don't I tell you the whole story." Paige nodded her head. "Yes please. Do you have any milk for these cookies?" Rosie got some milk and then started telling the story. "It was a dark night. This night was Halloween, but everyone went home. I was making my last batch of cookies for the day, and I felt a cold draft hit my neck. I was checking the windows, and while in this room, the front room, I saw something. No windows were open, but a dark figure sneaked toward my house. It had a cardboard box, with you in it. Then it went away. I decided to take you to the orphanage where you were adopted, I suppose. Oh, I remember, there was a note," Rosie sipped some milk. "you may want to see." Paige thought for a moment. "Can I see it?" She asked. "Of course!" Rosie walked into another room. Paige wondered what the note said. Suddenly, Rosie came back, holding a pile of crunched papers. "Here you go. If you want, you can keep it." said Rosie. Paige opened the note. It said in messy handwriting:
You have been chosen to take care of and teach this young sorcorrer. She must have her own dragon, spellbooks, and of course a wand. You must teach her before destruction strikes, or else no one will be saved. Thank you. --X
Paige's eyes were starting to puff up because she was holding in her tears. Today had been so emotional and now excitment and terror raced thourh her mind. It was pretty cool to be a wizard, have your own dragon, wand, spellbooks, but, she was afraid. Afraid to tell everyone. Afraid to save the world. Afraid to find out about her parents. She had a bad headache. She checked her watch, 6:39. She was late. "I have to go. I'll come back soon." Paige walked to the door, eating one more cookie. "Thanks for coming. See you soon." Rosie called. Paige raced home. She decided to not tell her parents about herself. She wouldn't tell anyone. It was her and Rosie's little secret. "Why are you so late for dinner!!" Paige's mother said to Paige when she got home. She tried to convince her mom she went to a friend's house, which wasn't a total lie. Rosie was her friend now. Even though she was hungury, Paige stumbled up the stairs without getting a bite to eat. Paige changed into some clean (mismatched) pj's and fell asleep. She hoped she could sleep in just this once. She dreamed about her parents and how kind and happy they were. But why would they give her up? That thought stayed in her mind untill she woke up. Paige woke up delicously from a nice sleep. She could hear the blender, which ment they were having smoothies. She could also smell blueberry pancakes. She wanted to make sure she slept in, so she checked her clock. 9:21. She had slept in, which felt good. Maybe today she would just stay in her pj's and watch cartoons and then paint some pictures, and then do some chores to get some money. But her mind kept wandering off about all the magical stuff. It was too hard to think about right now. She went downstairs and had some breakfast and then did all the things on her list. She was having a good day, untill somebody knocked on the door. When she opened the door, she knew she was a wizard. There was a dwarf on her front porch! She went outside, and told the dwarf to go away. But in it's squeaky voice it said: "We need your help. Someone is trying to take over our kingdom. Please help!!" Paige was trying to enjoy her weekend, but now she had to save a kingdom of dwarfs. "I can't today. Maybe another day." "No no! We need help now!!" THe dwarf pleaded. "Fine. I'll be back in a sec." Paige felt she needed to leave her mom a note. To tell she was gone. It said: Hi mom, I had to run to a friend's house to pick up something. I'll be home soon. --Paige She hoped she wouldn't be too long. She then hurried to the dwarf in the front. They hurried to the kingdom, dwarf in the front Paige in the rear. She hoped with all of her might that it would be quick and easy. Then dwarf said: "We're almost there!"
That's all for now! Stay tuned!
Thank you. --X
